THEORIES ARE PRESENTED FOR THE ULTIMATE STRENGTH IN BENDING AND TORSION OF PRESTRESSED CONCRETE MEMBERS REINFORCED WITH LONGITUDINAL STEEL ONLY. THE THEORIES ARE BASED ON EQUILIBRIUM OF FORCES, COMPATIBILITY OF STRAINS, AND LINEAR STRESS STRAIN RELATIONSHIP, AND INCLUDE A DOWEL FORCE AT RIGHT ANGLES TO THE STEEL WHERE APPLICABLE. THE THEORIES ARE COMPARED WITH 125 EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS FROM SIX INVESTIGATORS.
