PARTIALLY OVER-REINFORCED CONCRETE BEAMS UNDER PURE TORSION

PURE TORSION TESTS ARE REPORTED ON EIGHT L-BEAMS HAVING A LONGITUDINAL REINFORCEMENT VOLUME GREATLY IN EXCESS OF THE STIRRUP VOLUME. STRENGTH ARE COMPARED WITH PREDICTIONS FROM THREE AVAILABLE METHODS. DATA OF 21 RECTANGULAR AND L-SHAPED BEAMS FROM OTHER INVESTIGATORS ARE LIKEWISE ANALYZED. SINCE PRESENT METHODS OF PREDICTION DO NOT PROVIDE REASONABLE ESTIMATES OF THE STRENGTHS OF THESE BEAMS, AN EMPIRICAL METHOD IS OUTLINED. /AUTHOR/
