ANALYSIS OF THE DEFLECTIONS IN MULTILAYERS PAVEMENT STRUCTURES /IN PORTUGUESE/

A SIMPLIFIED METHOD IS DEVELOPED FOR THE COMPUTATION OF THE DEFLECTIONS IN TWO LAYER SYSTEMS SUBMITTED TO STATIC LOADS OF CIRCULAR LOADED AREAS. INFORMATION IS PRESENTED ON SOME PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS OF THE METHOD IN THE STUDY OF FLEXIBLE PAVEMENTS. THE PRESENT METHOD ANALYZES THE "DEFLECTION BASINS" OBTAINED DIRECTLY FROM THE PAVEMENT. THESE "DEFLECTION BASINS" ARE DETERMINED BY THE COMPUTATION OF THE DEFLECTIONS UNDER THE LOAD CENTER AND ALSO IN SEVERAL PLACES FAR FROM IT. A STUDY OF THE RESULTS OF THE AASHO ROAD TEST MADE BY VESIC AND DOMASCHUK IS INCLUDED. IN THIS STUDY THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE MEASURED DEFLECTIONS AND THE ONES COMPUTED BY THE BURMISTER THEORY ARE EVIDENT. THOSE DIFFERENCES ARE PRACTICALLY ELIMINATED WHEN THE DEFLECTIONS ARE DETERMINED BY THE PRESENT METHOD. THE APPLICATIONS OF THIS METHOD TO THE INTERPRETATION OF PLATE LOAD TESTS AND OF THE NORMAL TESTING OF THE BENKELMAN BEAM ARE ALSO INCLUDED. /RRI/
