PROJECT FOR RENOVATING FLEXIBLE PAVEMENTS

A FORMULA FOR THE DETERMINATION OF THE ADDITIONAL THICKNESS REQUIRED FOR FAILED FLEXIBLE PAVEMENTS IS PRESENTED. THE MAIN DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE PROPOSED METHOD AND THE CLASIC ONES IS THAT THE FORMER INCLUDES AN ELEMENT WHICH DEFINES THE GEOMETRIC CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SURFACE DEFORMED BY THE APPLICATION OF LOADS. THIS ELEMENT, PROPOSED BY KUANG-YUAN KUNG, IS USED ALSO TO GIVE THE DEFINITION OF THE PAVEMENT CONDITION. A STATISTICAL TREATMENT WITH A METHODOLOGY DIFFERENT FROM THE ONE COMMONLY ADOPTED IS SUGGESTED. ALL THE COMPUTATIONS OF THE ADDITIONAL THICKNESS, THE STATISTICAL TREATMENT, AND THE ELABORATION OF REPOTS ARE MADE BY ELECTRONIC COMPUTERS WITH A PROGRAM DEVELOPED BY ENG.
