ASPHALT PAVEMENT TEMPERATURE PROFILES AND THEIR RELATION TO METEOROLOGICAL PARAMETERS

TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENTS IN AN ASPHALT SLAB WERE CARRIED OUT AS PART OF AN INVESTIGATION TO ESTABLISH RATIONAL DESIGN CRITERIA FOR ASPHALT PAVEMENT IN ISRAEL A SQUARE CONCRETE SLAB COMPRISING THREE IDENTICAL ASPHALTIC CONCRETE LAYERS WAS CONSTRUCTED. SINCE TEMPERATURE EXTREMITIES IN CONCRETE PAVEMENTS WERE THE MAIN INTEREST, MEASUREMENTS WERE CARRIED OUT ONLY DURING SUMMER AND WINTER MONTHS. IN ORDER TO CORRELATE THE ASPHALT SLAB TEMPERATURE DISTRIBUTION WITH VARIOUS METEOROLOGICAL PARAMETERS, MEASUREMENTS OF SOIL TEMPERATURES, WIND SPEED AND CLOUDINESS WERE CARRIED OUT. /RRL/
