DIMENSIONING AND SELECTION OF ASPHALT PAVEMENTS

CONCERNING ASPHALT PAVEMENTS, THE DNER METHOD /1961 LEADS TO THE SUBDIMENSIONING AND THE DNER METHOD /1966 IS UNECONOMICAL FOR ROADS WITH LIGHT AND MEDIUM TRAFFIC. TO CORRECT THIS SITUATION A SUGGESTION IS GIVEN BASED ON CONSIDERATIONS OF WEAR AND DURABILITY OF ASPHALT PAVEMENTS AND ON OBSERVATIONS MADE AT THE BRAZILIAN PAVED HIGHWAY NETWORK. /IRP/
