CALCULATIONS OF STRESSES, STRAINS AND DISPLACEMENTS IN A LAYERED ELASTIC STRUCTURE, PART II

A COMPUTER PROGRAM IS DESCRIBED FOR EFFICIENTLY COMPUTING STRESSES, STRAINS AND DISPLACEMENTS IN AN N-LAYERED ELASTIC STRUCTURE UNDER THE ACTION OF A NUMBER M OF VERTICAL LOADS ACTING ON THE TOP SURFACE. RESULTS ARE COMPUTED SIMULTANEOUSLY AT UP TO 8 DEPTHS ALONG A NUMBER Q OF VERTICAL LINES, WHERE THE PRODUCT MQ MAY NOT EXCEED 40. THE POSITIONS OF THE LOADS AND OF THE POINTS AT WHICH RESULTS ARE REQUIRED CAN BE SPECIFIED ARBITRARILY. THE STRESSES, ETC, ARE GIVEN BOTH IN TERMS OF THE COMPONENTS WITH RESPECT TO A CHOSEN SET OF CARTESIAN CO-ORDINATES AND IN TERMS OF THE PRINCIPAL COMPONENTS. THE INVARIANTS OF THE STRESS AND STRAIN TENSORS ARE ALSO PRINTED. /RRL(A)/
