DETERMINATION OF THE DRYING OUT OF A CONCRETE ROAD SURFACE /IN GERMAN/

LABORATORY TESTS SHOWED THAT, DURING THE DRYING OUT OF CONCRETE, A SHARP DECREASE IN FLEXURAL STRENGTH OCCURS, QUITE INDEPENDENT OF THE AGE OF THE CONCRETE. THIS FACT IS PARTICULARLY SIGNIFICANT AS REGARDS CONCRETE ROAD CONSTRUCTION IN SUMMER WHEN RAPID DRYING OUT OCCURS UNDER HEAVY STATIC AND DYNAMIC TRAFFIC LOADING. THE PROBLEM WAS, THEREFORE, TO DEVELOP A MEASURING PROCESS ENABLING A DETERMINATION OF THE MOISTURE CONTENT IN THE FINISHED CONCRETE SURFACING TO BE MADE AT ANY TIME. WITH THIS AIM IN VIEW, THIS PAPER DESCRIBES TESTS BEING CARRIED OUT ON SAMPLES. /FG/RRL/
