RIDING TESTS ON CONCRETE PAVEMENTS AT SCHIPHOL AIRPORT

THE BEARING CAPACITY AND BEHAVIOR OF CONCRETE PAVEMENTS UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF MULTIPLEWHEEL ROLLING LOAD SYSTEMS ARE BEING DETERMINED AND TESTED BY RIDING TESTS TO PROVIDE DATA FOR THE DESIGN AND THICKNESS OF CONCRETE PAVEMENTS FOR 300 TON AIRCRAFT. THE TESTS PROVIDED DATA ON' LOAD POSITION, LOAD SPREADING ACTION OF VARIOUS FORMS OF PAVEMENT CONSTRUCTION, SUBGRADE, BASE COURSES, CONCRETE PROPERTIES, EFFECT OF LOAD REPETITIONS, STRAIN, FATIGUE PHENOMENA OF CONCRETE, CONSOLIDATION AND FATIGUE OF BASE AND SUBGRADE, SLAB DIMENSIONS, TEMPERATURE AND MOISTURE CONTENT AND JOINT CONSTRUCTION.
