A REVIEW OF LITERATURE PERTAINING TO THE DEVELOPMENT, SUBSEQUENT EVALUATIONS AND CURRENT USE OF THE GENERAL AASHO ROAD TEST EQUATION

A LITERATURE SURVEY WAS MADE TO BETTER DETERMINE THE PHILOSOPHY OF THE AASHO ROAD TEST RESEARCH PROGRAM AND TO ASSIMILATE SUBSEQUENT DEVELOPMENTS ON THE USE OF THE ROAD TEST EQUATIONS. THE ULTIMATE OBJECTIVE IS TO DEVELOP METHODS FOR OBTAINING THE SOIL SUPPORT VALUE AND PAVEMENT COMPONENT STRENGTH COEFFICIENTS FOR USE IN A FLEXIBLE PAVEMENT DESIGN PROCEDURE. THE REPORT CONSISTS OF FOUR PRINCIPAL PARTS' 1/ INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND, 2/ AASHO ROAD TEST EQUATIONS AND THEIR USE IN FLEXIBLE PAVEMENT DESIGN, 3/ THE CURRENT DESIGN PROCEDURE OF THE STATE, AND 4/ A BIBLIOGRAPHY.
