REACTIONS IN PORTLAND CEMENT-CLAY MIXTURES

AN EFFORT WAS MADE TO DETERMINE HOW PHYSIOCHEMICAL REACTIONS OF CLAY WITH CEMENT EFFECT THE SOIL STABILIZATION PROCESS BY STUDYING THE REACTION PRODUCTS OF THE MIXTURE, THE RATES OF REACTION OF THE MIXTURES, THE DETERIORATION OR LACK OF DETERIORATION OF CLAY MINERALS IN THE MIXTURES, AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF STRENGTH IN THE MIXTURES. SPECIMENS OF RELATIVELY PURE CLAYS AND PORTLAND CEMENT, AND LATER OF SOILS AND PORTLAND CEMENT WERE PREPARED AND CURED FOR VARIED TIME PERIODS AND THEIR PROPERTIES WERE STUDIED.
