CONCRETE TECHNOLOGY - CONTROL

OBSERVATIONS ARE MADE ON STAGES IN THE TECHNOLOGICAL CONTROL OF CONCRETE MATERIALS AND MANUFACTURING INCLUDING TRANSPORTATION, POSITIONING, CURING, AND QUALITY EVALUATION. THE STATISTICAL QUALITY CONTROL METHOD RECOMMENDED IS THAT OF THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT IN VOLUME 1 OF ITS "PAVING MANUAL." THE TECHNOLOGICAL CONTROL OF CONCRETE MUST BE CARRIED OUT IN SUCH A WAY THAT ALL STAGES FOLLOW THE TECHNICAL INSTRUCTIONS. IN THIS WAY A FINISHED CONCRETE OF GOOD QUALITY IS OBTAINED. RESULTS OBTAINED FROM CONCRETE CORES ARE NOT ADEQUATE, BECAUSE THEY DO NOT ALWAYS REFLECT THE DESIRED QUALITY OF CONCRETE. THE CONTROL AS RECOMMENDED ABOVE MUST BE CARRIED OUT BY PERSONNEL FAMILIAR WITH ALL STAGES, OR BY THE TRAINING OF PERSONNEL INTERESTED IN CONCRETE TECHNOLOGY. /RRI/
