RECHARGE BASINS FOR DISPOSAL OF HIGHWAY STORM DRAINAGE-THEORY, DESIGN PROCEDURE, AND RECOMMENDED ENGINEERING PRACTICES

WHERE THE LOCAL SOIL IS OF WELL-DRAINED MATERIAL, THE USE OF RECHARGE BASINS FOR DISPOSAL OF HIGHWAY STORM RUNOFF AND FOR REPLENISHMENT OF GROUND WATER SUPPLY HAS BECOME AN ECONOMICAL AND IMPORTANT PART IN THE WATER RESOURCES PLANNING AND HIGHWAY STORM DRAINAGE SYSTEM. THIS STUDY IS A COMPREHENSIVE MANUAL COVERING PRINCIPLES AND THEORY, DESIGN PROCEDURES, AND RECOMMENDED PRACTICES FOR CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE. MODEL TESTS WERE EMPLOYED FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE ANALYTICAL PART. THE PRACTICAL METHOD FOR ESTIMATING THE RUNOFF INFLOW IN THE ENGINEERING DESIGN OF BASIN SIZE IS ALSO INCLUDED. /AUTHOR/
