TECHNOLOGY OF FRICTION IN SEA WATER TECHNOLIGIE DU FROTTEMENT DANS L EAU DE MER

Report on tests concerning resistance to corrosion and friction of various materials, relevant to development of mechanisms working without lubrication in seawater environment; conditions which must be satisfied with regard to friction and other factors are established, and seven pairs of metal-plastic materials as well as eight pairs of metal-metal materials which satisfy these conditions are listed; action of sea fauna and microorganisms seems to be determining factor, and submerged mechanisms must be protected against them by means of still-water chambers.
