INFLUENCE OF THE ADDITION OF FILLERS, SAND AND SURFACE- ACTIVE ADMIXTURES (CALCIUM LIGNOSULPHONATE) ON THE STRUCTURAL FORMATION OF CEMENT PASTE AND MICROCONCRETE /IN RUSSIAN/

LIGNOSULPHONATE, SILICEOUS SAND AND CRUSHED SAND FILLER WERE ADDED TO OVERGROUND CEMENT PASTE, AND THEIR INFLUENCE ON THE LENGTH OF TIME BEFORE STIFFENING STARTS AND ON THE CRITICAL PLASTIC STRENGTH OF THE MIXTURES WAS STUDIED. THE POROSITY OF THE MIXTURES AFTER SHRINKAGE WAS MEASURED BETWEEN 10 MINUTES AND 28 DAYS AFTER MIXING. TEST RESULTS SHOW THAT LIGNOSULPHONATE ACTS AS A PLASTICIZER, RETARDER AND AIR-ENTRAINING AGENT. FILLER AND SAND INCREASE THE MECHANICAL STRENGTH OF THE MIXTURE. AT 28 DAYS, THE POROSITY OF HARDENED CEMENT PASTE IS 47 PERCENT; THE ADDITION OF FILLER LOWERS IT TO 30 PERCENT, THE ADDITION OF SAND TO 1 PERCENT. CALCIUM LIGNOSULPHONATE INCREASES THE POROSITY OF PURE CEMENT PASTE AND FILLERIZED PASTE, BUT DECREASES THAT OF MORTAR. THIN SAMPLE SECTIONS, 28 AND 90 DAYS OLD, WERE STUDIED AND THE EFFECT OF LIGNOSULPHONATE ON THE PERCENTAGE OF CLINKER PARTICLES NOT REACTING WITH WATER WAS EXPRESSED QUANTITATIVELY. THIS PERCENTAGE IS AT ITS MINIMUM (3 TO 4 PERCENT AT 90 DAYS) FOR A MORTAR CONTAINING FILLERIZED CEMENT PASTE. MEASUREMENTS WERE ALSO TAKEN OF THE SPECIFIC SURFACES OBTAINED FROM THE ADSOPTION OF NITROGEN AT LOW TEMPERATURES. THE RESULTS OBTAINED ARE EXPLAINED BY THE REACTIONS TAKING PLACE BETWEEN THE FINELY DISPERSED SILICA OF THE FILLER AND THE LIME RELEASED BY THE HYDRATION OF PORTLAND CEMENT CLINKER. /LCPC/RRL/
