RAPID METHOD OF ANLAYSIS OF PORTLAND CEMENT

A SIMPLE, RAPID AND ACCURATE METHOD FOR ANALYSING PORTLAND CEMENT USING ONE SAMPLE, IS PRESENTED. SILICA IS DETERMINED BY A COMBINED GRAVIMETRIC-COLORIMETRIC METHOD, WHILE THE REMAINING COMPONENTS ARE DETERMINED EITHER SPECTROPHOTOMETRICALLY, COMPLEXOMETRICALLY OR FLAME- PHOTOMETRICALLY. THE RESULTS OF THE ANALYSES OF SIX STANDARD SMPLES OF PORTLAND CEMENT USING THIS METHOD, ARE COMPARED WITH CERTIFIED SAMPLE ANALYSES OF THE U.S. NATIONAL BUREAU OF STANDARDS, AND CONFIRM THE ACCURACY OF THE METHOD. WITH MINOR MODIFICATIONS, THE METHOD CAN BE APPLIED TO THE ANALYSES OF CEMENT RAW MATERIALS, SUCH AS LIMESTONES, CLAYS AND SILICATES. A DISCUSSION ON THE PRESENT STATE OF RAPID METHODS FOR THE ANALYSIS OF PORTLAND CEMENT IS INCLUDED. /RRL(A)/
