POSEY CANYON ARCH CULVERT INSTRUMENTATION

THE INSTRUMENTATION OF AN 8-FOOT DIAMETER REINFORCED CONCRETE ARCH CULVERT UNDER AN EMBANKMENT 240 FEET IN HEIGHT IS REPORTED. INSTRUMENTS WERE INSTALLED TO PROVIDE FOR MEASUREMENT OF: PRESSURE AT THE CULVERT-SOIL INTERFACE, SOIL PRESSURE WITHIN THE EMBANKMENT, DEFORMATION OF THE CULVERT CROSS-SECTION, AND ROTATIONAL MOVEMENT OF THE CULVERT FOOTING. DATA FROM PERIODIC READINGS OF THE INSTRUMENTATION ARE PRESENTED. THESE DATA ARE NOT ANALYZED IN THIS REPORT. /AUTHOR/
