CONCRETE WITH EXPANDED SLAG /IN RUSSIAN/

RESEARCH INTO CONCRETE CONTAINING EXPANDED SLAG AND ITS APPLICATION TO THE BUILDING INDUSTRY AND INDUSTRIAL CONSTRUCTION IS REVIEWED. THE PROPERTIES OF EXPANDED SLAG ARE DESCRIBED, AND ITS HETEROGENEITY AND THE CHARACTERISTICS WHICH DISTINGUISH IT FROM OTHER LIGHTWEIGHT AGGREGATES ARE EMPHASIZED. THE INFLUENCE ON THE PROPERTIES OF EXPANDED SLAG OF ITS GRADING, POROSITY, DEGREE OF CRYSTALLIZATION, STRENGTH, BULK DENSITY, CEMENT CONTENT, CEMENT ACTIVITY, WATER/CEMENT RATIO ARE INVESTIGATED. SPECIAL ATTENTION IS GIVEN TO HYGROSCOPIC AND THERMO PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS. SOME OF THE DATA PRESENTED ARE PUBLISHED FOR THE FIRST TIME (SORPTION CHARACTERISTICS, PARAMETERS OF THE HYGROSCOPIC STATE, AND THERMO CONDUCTIBILITY). TECHNOLOGICAL METHODS OF MANUFACTURING EXPANDED SLAG CONCRETE (PREPARATION OF THE CONCRETE, MOULDING, THERMAL TREATMENT) ARE DESCRIBED. VARIATIONS IN THE WATER/CEMENT RATIO OF THE CEMENT PASTE IN CONCRETE ARE STUDIED. THE THERMAL TREATMENT IS CONNECTED WITH THE INTENSITY OF HARDENING OF THE BINDER. /LCPC/RRL/
