THE STRENGTH OF STRUCTURAL LIGHTWEIGHT CONCRETE /IN FRENCH/

THE INFLUENCE OF THE STRENGTH OF AGGREGATES AND MORTAR ON THAT OF STRUCTURAL LIGHTWEIGHT CONCRETE IS STUDIED. A FORMULA IS PRESENTED TO DETERMINE THE STRENGTH OF MOST LIGHTWEIGHT CONCRETES, IN WHICH CONCRETE STRENGTH IS EXPRESSED AS A FUNCTION OF AGGREGATE STRENGTH, MORTAR STRENGTH AND THE VOLUMETRIC PROPORTION OF AGGREGATES IN CONCRETES. WITH THE HELP OF THIS FORMULA, IT IS POSSIBLE (1) TO CLASSIFY CONCRETE ACCORDING TO STRENGTH CRITERIA AND DRAW UP DIRECTIVES FOR THE MIX-DESIGN OF CONCRETE, (2) TO SELECT THE CORRECT AGGREGATE FOR A GIVEN CONCRETE, (3) TO ADVISE AGGREGATE PRODUCERS OF THE MANUFACTURE, CONTROL AND SALE OF AGGREGATES, AND (4) TO ESTABLISH MIX-DESIGN FORMULAE FOR THE MAJORITY OF STRUCTURAL LIGHTWEIGHT CONCRETES CURRENTLY USED. /LCPC(A)/RRL/
