THIS IS ONE OF THREE "IN-DEPTH STUDIES" APPENDED TO IRF'S 1971 WORLD SURVEY OF ROAD RESEARCH. IT REPORTS THE RESULTS OF VISITS MADE TO ENGLAND, SWEDEN, AND GERMANY IN APRIL AND MAY 1971 TO REVIEW APPROACHES TO ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS IN HIGHWAY LOCATION AND DESIGN.
