TENTATIVE EXPERIMENTS ON THE INFLUENCE OF PRECEDING SUSTAINED LOADS ON THE SHORT-TERM STRENGTH OF CONCRETE /IN GERMAN/

TESTS WERE MADE TO INVESTIGATE THE EFFECT OF A PRECEDING SUSTAINED LOAD UPON APPARENT CONCRETE COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH. A TOTAL NUMBER OF 60 CONCRETE CYLINDERS, 15 CM. IN DIAMETER AND 30 CM. HIGH, WERE TESTED TO FAILURE AFTER BEING SUBJECTED TO A PERIOD OF SUSTAINED LOADING. TO DETERMINE THE STRENGTH OF SPECIMENS WITHOUT PRELOADS THE SAME NUMBER OF CYLINDERS 15/30 CM. AND CUBES 20/20/20 CM. WAS TESTED. IN ALL CASES THE SUSTAINED LOAD CAUSED AN INCREASE OF THE APPARENT COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH. /RRL/
