HYDROPHOBIC PORTLAND CEMENT WITH NEW SYNTHETIC SURFACE-ACTIVE AGENTS IS USED EXTENSIVELY IN ROAD AND RUNWAY CONSTRUCTION. THE NEW WATER-REPELLANT AGENTS, ARE VERY ECONOMICAL AND EFFECTIVE AND ENSURE A COMPLETE PRESERVATION OF THE ACTIVITY OF THE CEMENT FOR LONG PERIODS EVEN IN A DAMP ATMOSPHERE. THEY IMPROVE THE CEMENT CRUSHING PROCESS AND FINENESS OF GRINDING INCREASES THE PRODUCTIVITY OF THE CRUSHERS BY 8 TO 10 PER CENT, AND DECREASES ELECTRICITY CONSUMPTION. HYDROPOBIC CONCRETE HAS A LOWER WATER ABSORPTION THAN ORDINARY CONCRETE AND A HIGH FROST RESISTANCE. WHEN HYDROPHOBIC CEMENT IS USED INSTEAD OF ORDINARY PORTLAND CEMENT IN CONCRETE, LESS CEMENT IS REQUIRED. /LCPC/RRL/
