PHYSIO-CHEMICAL MECHANICS AND ITS CONTRIBUTION TO THE PROBLEMS OF HYDRATION OF MORTAR MATERIALS, AND OF HARDENING OF CEMENTITIOUS PASTES MORTARS, AND CONCRETES /IN SLOVAK/

A PROGRESS REPORT GIVING A SURVEY OF INVESTIGATIONS CARRIED OUT TO EXPLAIN THE HYDRATION PROCESS OF CEMENTITIOUS SILICATE SUBSTANCES, AS WELL AS CONCRETES AND MORTARS MADE OF THEM, TO FIND THE INTERRELATIONS OF MECHANICAL PROPERTIES AND THE WAYS OF IMPROVING THEM. IT IS SHOWN THAT AFTER THE EXTENSIVE WORK OF POWERS, ET AL., THE MOST SIGNIFICANT ANSWER TO THESE COMPLICATED PROBLEMS HAS BEEN PRESENTED BY THE SOVIET SCIENTIST P. A. REBINDER WHO HAS LAID THE FOUNDATIONS OF PHYSICO-CHEMICAL MECHANICS AND SUCCEEDED IN EXPLAINING THE DEVELOPMENT OF SOLID MACROSTRUCTURES OF CEMENTITIOUS PASTES AND THEIR HARDENING IN RELATION TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF CRYSTALLIC NEW FORMATIONS OUT OF SOLUTIONS CONTAINED IN THE PASTES. /CR/
