DISCUSSED ARE' THE VARIABILITY OF PROPERTIES WITH COMPOSITION, TEMPERATURE, AND TIME, THE RESISTANCE TO FIRE, WATER, CHEMICALS, AND ATMOSPHERICS, AND PROBLEMS OF STRENGTH AND ELASTICITY. PLASTIC ARE ALSO USED IN SEMIPRODUCTS E.G., AS PIPES AND FOR CONCRETE FORMS, AS ADMIXTURES TO CEMENT MORTAR, AS JOINT FILLERS IN STRESS BEARING AND IN EXPANSION JOINTS, FOR CONCRETE REPAIRS, FOR WEARING SURFACES, COATING AND SEALING, INORGANIC AND ORGANIC ADDITIVES AND DILUTANTS AND THEIR EFFECTS ON STRENGTH, WORKABILITY, SHRINKAGE, AND HEAT DEVELOPMENT AT CURING, AND IN HEALTH AND FIRE HAZARDS CHARACTERISTICS OF PLASTICS VARY WITHIN WIDE LIMITS.
