GRILLAGE ANALYSIS OF COMPOSITE BOX GIRDER BRIDGE DECKS

A COMPUTER PROGRAM FOR THE ANALYSIS OF GRILLAGES IS USED TO INVESTIGATE THE LATERAL DISTRIBUTION OF LIVE LOAD IN A SIMPLY SUPPORTED SPAN OF A COMPOSITE TRAPEZOIDAL BOX GIRDER BRIDGE. THE ANALYTICAL RESULTS ARE COMPARED WITH EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS FROM A TEST ON A QUARTER SCALE MODEL BRIDGE CARRIED OUT IN THE DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING AT THE UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON. THE AGREEMENT BETWEEN EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS AND GRILLAGE ANALYSIS IS REMARKABLY GOOD, CONFIRMING THE VALIDITY OF THE APPROACH FOR THE ANALYSIS OF COMPOSITE TRAPEZOIDAL BRIDGES. /AUTHOR/
