TWISTING OF THIN-WALLED BOX GIRDERS OF TRAPEZOIDAL CROSS SECTION

THE WORK OF RESINGER AND RICHMOND ON THE TWISTING OF THIN-WALLED BOX GIRDERS OF RECTANGULAR CROSS SECTION IS EXTENDED TO INCLUDE TRAPEZOIDAL CROSS SECTIONS. A MORE GENERAL DEFINITION OF THE VARIABLES IS MADE THAT STILL PRESERVES ALMOST ALL THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE EARLIER WORK. IT HAS ALSO BEEN POSSIBLE TO RETAIN THE EFFECTIVE BEAM CONCEPT BY ADDING A NORMAL FORCE. THE MODIFICATIONS NECESSARY FOR BOTH THE INFLUENCE COEFFICIENT AND DSIPLACEMENT METHODS ARE DEVELOPED. NUMERICAL VALUES ARE GIVEN FOR SEVERAL SIMPLE BOX GIRDER SYSTEMS WITH DIFFERENT WIDTHS OF BOTTOM FLANGE. /RRL/A/
