"EARTHMENT" - IN PROTECTION AND CONSTRUCTION OF HIGHWAYS - SHOULDERS - SLOPES AND RIGHT-OF-WAYS

"EARTHMENT" IS AN EMULSIFIED ASPHALT PRODUCT OF THE ANIONIC CLASS. IT IS AN AQUEOUS EMULSION OF LIGNITE, SPECIALLY PREPARED WITH SODIUM SULFATES, DISPERSANTS, AND OTHER STABILIZERS, ACTING IN THE CHEMICAL REACTION OF THE CEMENT. GRANULAR MATERIALS DISPERSED ON THE SOIL WITH LIGNO SODIUM SULFATE (ELEMENTARY BASE OF THE PRODUCT) FORMS THE LIGNO CALCIUM SULFATE WHICH ACTS AS COHESIVE ELEMENT OF THE GRANULAR MATERIALS. THE PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS ARE: PH: 7.5 TO 9.5, SPECIFIC WEIGHT: 1003 TO 1010 T/CU M; CEMENT MIXTURE PROOF; DEGREE OF VISCOSITY; DEGREE OF SOIL MIXTURE; DEGREE OF STOCKPILING. THE PROCESS INVOLVES: (1) THE ACHIEVEMENT OF A BASE OF PAVEMENT WITH BETTER AND MORE UNIFORM SUPPORT CHARACTERISTICS. (2) ENLARGEMENT OF THE SOIL APPLICATION STRIP. (3) FUNDAMENTAL CORRECTION OF THE DEGREE OF HUMIDITY ABSORPTION. (4) ACHIEVING ELASTICITY IN PAVING. (5) FULL USE OF THE CEMENT. (6) DECREASE OF THE "RIGID SELECTION" GRANULAR MATERIAL OF THE SOIL. (7) EXTRA SPEED OF THE CURING TIME DURING THE SOLIDIFICATION PERIOD OF PAVING. (8) ANTIFREEZING WHICH OBVIATES CONTRACTION JOINTS AND FACILITATES OPERATIONS. (9) RAPIDITY OF PROCESSING (1-3 HRS) FROM THE PHYSICAL-CHEMICAL REACTION. (10) LOW MAINTNENACE EXPENDITURE. (11) REDUCED PAVING COSTS. /RRI/
