USE OF HYDRATED LIME IN BITUMINOUS MIXTURES TO DECREASE HARDENING OF THE ASPHALT CEMENT - INTERIM REPORT

THE PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVE IS TO DETERMINE THE ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF ADDING HYDRATED LIME TO REPRESENTATIVE SAMPLES OF BITUMINOUS MIXTURES WITHIN THE STATE OF UTAH TO PROLONG THE USEFUL LIFE OF THE PAVEMENT. FROM THE RESULTS TO DATE AND THE DATA ANALYZED DURING THE FIRST YEAR, IT IS FELT THAT IN MOST CASES, THE USE OF LIME AS AN ADDITIVE IS BENEFICIAL TO THE ASPHALT IN THAT IT REDUCES HARDENING. /AUTHOR/
