THE BINDER IN BITUMINOUS MIXTURES /IN DUTCH/

THE RHELOGICAL BEHAVIOR OF ASPHALTIC BITUMENS AND TARS IS DEALT WITH AS AN IMPORTANT FACTOR IN THE MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF BITUMINOUS MIXTURES. THE VISCOSITY-TEMPERATURE RELATION OF THE VARIOUS TYPES OF BITUMENS IS DESCRIBED AND MADE CLEAR ON ACCOUNT OF THE DIFFERENCES IN COLLOID-CHEMICAL COMPOSITION. THE PARALLELISM OF THE RHEOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF BITUMENS AND BITUMEN-AGGREGATE MIXTURES IS SHOWN BY THE RELATION BETWEEN FRACTURE STRENGTH AND STIFFNESS MODULUS. THE FACTORS THAT INFLUENCE FATIGUE PHENOMENA IN BITUMENOUS MATERIALS ARE DISCUSSED. THE RATIO OF MARSHALL STABILITY AND FLOW OF PAVEMENT MIXTURES IS CONSIDERED AN ESSENTIAL CRITERION OF THE RESISTANCE TO RUTTING AND CORRUGATION. /SWOV/RWL/RRL/
