REINFORCEMENT OF BITUMINOUS ROAD SURFACINGS BY MEANS OF HIGH-TENACITY POLYESTER FIBER /IN DUTCH/

THE EFFECT OF REINFORCING ASPHALTIC ROAD SURFACES WITH A FABRIC MADE OF HIGH-TENACITY POLYESTER FIBER IS DISCUSSED. VARIOUS CHARACTERISTICS OF ASPHALTIC CONCRETE ARE IMPROVED BY SUCH A REINFORCING FABRIC, IN PARTICULAR THE CAPACITY TO ABSORB TENSILE STRESSES. AS A RESULT, CRACK FORMATION IS RETARDED AND SUBSTANTIALLY REDUCED, AND FATIGUE PHENOMENA TAKE MUCH LONGER TO DEVELOP. RESULTS OF EXTENSIVE LABORATORY TESTS ARE GIVEN /SWOV/RWL/RRL/
