Education in Road Safety: Are We Getting it Right?

This paper questions the efficacy of education in changing harmful and risky behaviors that many people undertake, especially when these risks negatively effect public health. Physical inactivity, cigarette smoking, speeding, inadequate diet, and other life choices seem to be responsible for shortening the number of years one lives. This paper evaluates the how traffic safety education might benefit (or not) individuals. It specifically examines how we evaluate and measure the impacts of education in order to determine its benefits.
