THE MECHANICAL STRENGTH OF DENSE BITUMINOUS MATERIALS USED FOR SURFACING LAYERS IN DIAMETRICAL COMPRESSION /IN FRENCH/

EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS OF ULTIMATE COMPRESSION TESTS CARRIED OUT ON SAMPLES PREPARED IN THE LABORATORY AND ON CORES TAKEN FROM ASPHALTIC CONCRETE WEARING COURSES ARE PRESENTED. A STUDY IS MADE OF VARIATIONS IN THE ULTIMATE LOAD: (1) AS A FUNCTION OF THE TEMPERATURE AND HEIGHT OF THE SAMPLES PREPARED IN THE LABORATORY, (2) AS A FUNCTION OF THE BINDER CONTENT IN SAMPLES PREPARED IN THE LABORATORY AND IN ASPHALTIC CONCRETE WITH IDENTICAL GRADING, AND (3) AFTER IMMERSION IN WATER OF SAMPLES PREPARED IN THE LABORATORY AND OF ASPHALTIC CONCRETE WITH IDENTICAL GRADING BUT DIFFERENT BINDER CONTENT. /RRL/
