THE BEHAVIOR OF BITUMINOUS SURFACINGS ON STEEL BRIDGE PLATES UNDER CONTINUOUS LOADING BETWEEN PLUS 20 DEGREES C AND MINUS 30 DEGREES C DEPENDS DECISIVELY UPON THE TYPE OF CONTACT ADHESIVE. WITH OKTA CONTACT ADHESIVE NO CRACKS APPEARED IN THE SURFACING EVEN WHEN THE STEEL PLATE WAS DISPLACED. AS THE TEMPERATURE FALLS DEFLECTION AND STRAIN DECREASE AS A RESULT OF THE INCREASING MODULUS OF ELASTICITY OF THE SURFACING. DEFLECTION AND ITS EFFECT ON THE SURFACING ALSO DEPENDS ON THE DURATION OF LOADING. DOUBLING THE AMOUNT OF CHARGES IN LOAD, HOWEVER, CAUSED NO CHANGE. /FG/RRL/
