DETERMINATION OF THE BINDER CONTENT OF BITUMINOUS MIXTURES /IN GERMAN/

IN ORDER TO BE ABLE TO CARRY OUT THE CONTROL OF MIXING OPERATIONS IN AS SHORT A TIME AS POSSIBLE, THE CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS TESTING LABORATORY OF TEERBAU HAS DEVELOPED A FAST EXTRACTION METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE BINDER CONTENT OF BITUMINOUS MIXTURES. THE METHOD AIMS TO COMBINE THE ADVANTAGES OF COLD OR HOT EXTRACTION RECOMMENDED IN DIN 1996. THUS THE BASIC PRINCIPLE OF HOT EXTRACTION IN SORHLE MACHINES WAS RETAINED BUT THE INSTALLATION WAS ALTERED IN SUCH A WAY THAT THE BENZENE SOLUTION CAN RUN AWAY MORE QUICKLY AND THE BINDER IS PROPERLY WASHED OFF THE MINERAL. IN THE VAPOR FROM THE HOT SOLVENT THE DISSOLVING PROCESS IS NOW COMPLETED VERY QUICKLY. THE METHOD DESCRIBED ALLOWS AN EXPERIENCED LABORATORY TECHNICIAN TO CONTROL 6 EXTRACTIONS SIMULTANEOUSLY. THE FILLER CAN BE BROUGHT BACK BY MEANS OF CENTRIFUGAL APPARATUS. /FG/RRL/
