COMBINED CAST-IN-PLACE AND PRECAST PILES FOR THE REDUCTION OF NEGATIVE FRICTION CAUSED BY EMBANKMENT FILL

FOR A ROAD AND RAILWAY BRIDGE AT MOOSMATTEN IN SWITZERLAND A PILE FOUNDATION USING COMBINED CAST-IN-PLACE AND PRECAST PILES WAS ADOPTED IN ORDER TO REDUCE NEGATIVE SKIN FRICTION ON PILES. A DESCRIPTION OF THE SOIL CONDITIONS AND THE ADOPTED SOLUTION FOR THE PILE FOUNDATION ARE GIVEN. AN ATTEMPT IS MADE TO CALCULATE NEGATIVE FRICTION FORCES AND GIVES RESULTS OF A LOADING TEST ON ONE PILE. /A/LCPC/RRL/
