STUDY OF RUTTING ROADS IN THE LABORATORY: A DYNAMIC CREEP TEST /IN FRENCH/

THE DYNAMIC EFFECTS OF THE HEAVY TRAFFIC ON LARGE DEFORMATIONS OCCURRING OCCASSIONALLY ON ROADS IS DEMONSTRAT- ED AND CORRESPONDING TEST PROCEDURE INVOLVING A VIBRATING COMPRESSION ON REALISTICALLY COMPACTED SAMPLES IS DEVELOPED. BITUMEN AGGREGATE FORMULATIONS ARE IDENTIFIED BY THIS TEST IN TERMS OF NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS OF A STANDARD LOAD WHICH LEADS TO A STANDARD DEFORMATION CORRESPONDING TO AN ORDER OF MAGNITUDE OF 2/3 INCH DEEP RUT IN THE ROAD. EFFECT OF TEMPERATURE AND BITUMEN STIFFNESS ARE ALSO ILLUSTRATED. HIGH FILLER/BITUMEN RATIOS LEAD TO HIGHLY STABLE MIXES. /AUTHOR/
