IN A DISCUSSION OF THE PRACTICAL CONNECTIONS BETWEEN SLIPPERINESS, WEARING PROPERTIES AND CONCRETE COMPOSITION, PARTICULAR REFERENCE IS MADE TO THE FOLLOWING POINTS: THE USE OF FINE GROOVING (GROOVES ABOUT 2.5 MM APART) RESULTS IN ESPECIALLY SKID-RESISTANT CONCRETE ROADS, AND THEIR DURABILITY IS INCREASED BY THE USE OF QUARTZ SAND MORTAR, LOW WATER-CEMENT VALUE, WELL DISTRIBUTED AIR VOIDS, AND OPTIMUM SELECTION AND GRADING OF AGGREGATES. /FG/RRL/
