PRESTRESSED CONCRETE PAVEMENTS IN SCHIPHOL AIRPORT /IN DUTCH/

DETAILS ARE GIVEN OF PRESTRESSED CONCRETE PLATFORMS AND STRETCHES OF RUNWAY 60 TO 130 M LONG AND 22.5 TO 75 M WIDE WHICH ARE COMPOSED OF STRIPS 7.5 M WIDE. INTERNAL PRE- TENSIONING WAS CHOSEN TO AVOID THE NECESSITY OF USING GROUND-ANCHORS. THE SLABS ARE PRESTRESSED IN TWO DIRECTIONS AND ADJACENT STRIPS ARE TIED TOGETHER BY MEANS OF TRANSVERSE TENSIONING. THE CONSTRUCTION JOINTS ARE SEALED WITH SYNTHETIC RESIN. THE EXPANSION JOINTS ARE SEALED WITH PROFILE RUBBER SET IN A STEEL LOCKING DEVICE. AFTER A DESCRIPTION OF THE PAVEMENT, CALCULATIONS OF THE CRACK INDUCING LOAD ACCORDING TO VARIOUS METHODS ARE GIVEN. /SWOV/RWL/RRL/
