HINGED CONCRETE SURFACING WITH CONTINUOUS REINFORCEMENT /IN FRENCH/

FORMULAS FOR DETERMINING THE MINIMUM SECTION OF STEEL NECESSARY FOR MAXIMUM SHRINKAGE ARE PRESENTED. THIS ANLYSIS LEADS TO THE FOLLOWING CONCLUSIONS: (1) STEEL WITH A HIGH YIELD STRESS MUST BE USED, (2) THE OPTIMUM LENGTH OF THE SECTIONS IS BETWEEN 3 AND 4.50M., (3) THE LENGTH OF NON- ADHESION FOR THE REINFORCEMENT AT RIGHT ANGLES WITH THE HINGES SHOULD BE 50 OR 75CM., (4) THIS TYPE OF SURFACING HAS MANY ADVANTAGES OVER CONTINUOUS SURFACING: SAVING IN STEEL, POSSIBILITY OF USING STEEL WITH A HIGH YIELD STRESS AND LARGER DIAMETER REINFORCEMENT, BETTER APPEARANCE (NO RANDOM CRACKING) AND COMPLETE SAFETY AS REGARDS CORROSION OF THE REINFORCEMENT. /LCPC/FESR/RRL/
