FIELD TESTS AND NOTES ON ASEISMIC DESIGN OF SUSPENSION BRIDGES

A SERIES OF DYNAMIC TESTS WAS CONDUCTED ON THE EXISTING SUSPENSION BRIDGES IN JAPAN. THE PURPOSE OF THE INVESTIGATION WAS TO OBTAIN RELIABLE DATA TO ESTABLISH MORE SATISFACTORY DESIGN CRITERIA FOR EARTHQUAKE-PROOF AND AERODYNAMICALLY STABLE SUSPENSION BRIDGE STRUCTURES, THIS PAPER PRESENTS THE ANALYSES OF THE TEST RESULTS AND A REVIEW OF CURRENT IDEAS ON ASEISMIC BRIDGE DESIGN. /TRRL/
