ON THE EFFECT OF THERMAL STRESSES CAUSED BY SUNLIGHT IN MULTI-SPANNED PRESTRESSED CONCRETE FRAME BRIDGE /IN JAPANESE/

AS STUDIES OF THERMAL STRESS DUE TO DAILY TEMPERATURE CHANGE OR UNEVEN TEMPERATURE DISTRIBUTION ARE SCARCE, THE EFFECTS OF DIRECT SUNLIGHT ON DEFLECTION IN AN ACTUAL PRESTRESSED CONCRETE BRIDGE WERE MEASURED. IT WAS FOUND THAT THE EFFECT OF DIRECT SUNLIGHT MUST BE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION IN STRUCTURAL DESIGN. A PRACTICAL METHOD FOR THE CALCULATION OF THERMAL STRESS DUE TO DIRECT SUNLIGHT IS PROPOSED. /AUTHOR/
