LOCAL EFFECTS OF INDIVIDUAL LOADS ON A BOX-GIRDER

THE DETERMINATION OF THE MAGNITUDE AND CHARACTERISTICS OF PEAK STRESSES CAUSED BY INDIVIDUAL LOADS APPLIED TO A BOXGIRDER TRAPEZOIDAL IN SECTION IS STUDIED. SUCH EFFECTS MAY OCCUR IN PRACTICE UNDER BRIDGE SLABS. A SOLUTION IS PROPOSED WHICH CONSISTS IN SUBSTITUTING A SYSTEM OF RECTANGULAR ISOTROPIC WALLS FOR THE BOX-GIRDER. FOURIER SERIES WERE USED IN THE CALCULATIONS AND A PROGRAM WRITTEN FOR THE ODRA 1013 COMPUTER. THE THEORY WAS CHECKED AGAINST EXPERIMENTAL MEASUREMENTS ON A STEEL SHEET MODEL. RESULTS SHOW THE INFLUENCE OF THE SHAPE OF THE GIRDER, THE NUMBER OF INDIVIDUAL LOADS, AND THE SIZE OF THE LOADING DEVICE ON THE MAGNITUDE AND CHARACTERISTICS OF THE STRESSES. /TRRL/
