THERMAL MODEL FOR THE EVALUATION OF SUBWAY VENTILATION AND AIR CONDITIONING

A THERMAL MODEL OF AN EXISTING SUBWAY STATION AND ONE-HALF MILE OF ADJACENT TUNNELS IS DESCRIBED, THAT WAS DEVELOPED TO EVALUATE A NUMBER OF CAR-COOLING AND AIR-CONDITIONING CONCEPTS FOR IMPROVED PASSENGER COMFORT. THE MODEL WAS PROGRAMMED FOR A DIGITAL COMPUTER TO ACCONT FOR TRANSIENT EFFECTS DUE TO TRAIN AND PASSENGER FLOW, OUTDOOR TEMPERATURE, HUMIDITY CONDITIONS, AND HEAT STORAGE IN TUNNEL WALLS AND SURROUNDING SOIL. /AUTHOR/
