SYSTEMS ANALYSIS FOR SUBWAY ENVIRONMENT

THIS PAPER OFFERS A BRIEF EXPLANATION OF A DYNAMIC SYSTEMS MODEL, SAID TO PROVIDE AN ORDERLY PROCEDURE FOR CONSIDERING THE FULL SPECTRUM OF FACTORS RELEVANT TO THE ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN OF A LARGE-SCALE, RAPID-TRANSIT SUBWAY SYSTEM BY FULLY UTILIZING THE CAPABILITIES OF THE COMPUTER IN PLANNING, ANALYSIS, AND DESIGN. THE FLOW OF AIR AND HEAT WITHIN A SUBWAY SYSTEM DEPENDS ON THE PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SYSTEM AND ON TRAIN PERFORMANCE, AND CAN BE SIMULATED ON A COMPUTER. THE DYNAMIC SYSTEMS MODEL OUTLINED IN THE PAPER INCORPORATES SUBMODELS WHICH ARE DESIGNED TO SIMULATE THESE TWO PHYSICAL PHENOMENA.
