AN ANALYTICAL SOLUTION FOR LATERALLY LOADED PILES IN LAYERED SOILS

AN ANALYTICAL SOLUTION FOR DEFLECTION IS OBTAINED IN THE FORM OF POWER SERIES FOR A UNIFORM PILE PASSING THROUGH A TWO LAYERED SOIL SYSTEM. FOR EACH LAYER THE SOIL MODULUS IS ASSUMED IN THE GENERALIZED POLYNOMINAL FORM. NUMERICAL RESULTS ARE OBTAINED FOR THE CASES WHEN THE SOIL MODULUS IS ASSUMED CONSTANT WITH DEPTH FOR EACH LAYER, AND THE SOIL MODULUS IS ASSUMED AS A LINEAR FUNCTION OF DEPTH FOR EACH LAYER. THE NUMERICAL RESULTS ARE PRESENTED IN NON- DIMENSIONAL FORM SO AS TO BE USEFUL FOR DESIGN PURPOSES. /AUTHOR/
