NORWEGIAN TRADITION AND PRACTICE IN THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF ROCK FILLED DAMS HAS BEEN DEVELOPED IN THE LAST TEN TO FIFTEEN YEARS. AN INTRODUCTORY PAPER GIVES A REVIEW OF THE PROBLEMS FACING NORWEGIAN ENGINEERS. SUBSEQUENT PAPERS DESCRIBE VARIOUS PROBLEMS, INCLUDING GROUTING, LEAKAGE AND DRAINAGE, ENCOUNTERED IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF FIVE ROCKFILL DAMS DURING THE LAST TEN YEARS.
