RESISTANCE COEFFICIENTS FOR STRUCTURAL PLATE CORRUGATED PIPE

FIVE, TEN AND TWENTY FOOT DIAMETER PIPE MODELS WERE USED TO DETERMINE THE RESISTANCE COEFFICIENTS FOR STRUCTURAL PLATE CORRUGATED PIPE. THE DATA OBTAINED ON HYDRAULIC GRADIENTS, VELOCITY DISTRIBUTIONS, AND STATIC PRESSURE MEASUREMENTS WERE USED TO DEVELOP A MEAN FLOW EQUATION FOR THE COMPUTATION OF THE RESISTANCE COEFFICIENT /CAUSED BY THE CORRUGATIONS/ FOR ALL SIZES OF PLATE PIPE. A METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE INCREMENT OF RESISTANCE ATTRIBUTABLE TO THE ASSEMBLY BOLTS IS PRESENTED IN APPENDIX A. EMPIRICAL EQUATIONS ENABLE MAXIMUM VALUES OF THE DARCY-WEISBACK F AND THE MANNING N TO BE CALCULATED FOR ANY DIAMETER OF CORRUGATED PIPE OF THE COMMON STRUCTURAL PLATE AND STANDARD VARIETIES AS WELL AS THE RELATIVELY NEW TYPE WITH ANNULAR 1-BY 3-IN CORRUGATIONS.
