SOIL-CEMENT CONSTRUCTION IN ALBERTA

MIX DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION AND CONTROL PRACTICES SINCE 1953 ARE DESCRIBED INVOLVING 119 MILES OF SOIL-CEMENT ROADS BUILT BY THE ALBERTA DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS. SOIL-CEMENT ADOPTED PRIMARILY BECAUSE OF DEPLETION OF GRANULAR MATERIALS. FIELD CONTROL OF VARIABLES IS CONDUCTED USING STATISTICAL CONTROL CHARTS DEVELOPED BY THE ALBERTA RESEARCH COUNCIL AND THE ALBERTA DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS. SOIL-CEMENT CONSTRUCTION HAS ATTAINED A HIGH DEGREE OF SUCCESS ECONOMICALLY AND STRUCTURALLY.
