ROADBUILDER FINDS IT PAYS TO PAVE UNDER COVER

IN ORDER TO FINISH A VITAL LINK IN THE EXPRESSWAY ACCESS TO THE BOUCHEVILLE TUNNEL IN MONTREAL, A CANADIAN CONTRACTOR LAID A 100 FT. STRETCH OF A SIX-LANE CONCRETE HIGHWAY IN FEBRUARY. FOUNDATIONS WERE MADE AND COMPACTED TO GRADE. THEN SHELTERS WITH PLASTIC SIDING AND TOP WERE BUILT WHICH PROTECTED THE CONCRETE AREAS FROM THE WEATHER. SECTIONS WERE HEATED FOR TEWNTY-FOURS FOURS PREVIOUS TO PAVEMENT LAYING TO INSURE FROST-FREE CONDITIONS. TRANSIT MIX TRUCKS DELIVERED HEATED MIX TO THE SITE. A TRIMMED-DOWN PAVING TRAIN DID THE PAVING.
