HEAVY PAVING STEEL POSITIONED THROUGH GUIDE SLOTS

IOWA CONTRACTORS HAVE DEVISED SEVERAL METHODS FOR HOLDING CONTINUOUS LONGITUDINAL REBARS ACCURATE IN POSITION, WHILE PLACING PAVING CONCRETE IN ONE LIFT. ONE METHOD USES A FORM- RIDING FRAME WHICH CONTAINS FLARED TUBES FOR RECEIVING AND POSITIONING THE STEEL JUST AHEAD OF THE SPREADER. THIS UNIT ELIMINATED THE NEED FOR TRANSVERSE BARS OR OF TYING MAIN STEEL TO SUCH BARS. IT ALSO TOOK THE PLACE OF CHAIR SUPPORTS FOR THE STEEL. THE UNIT WAS MADE ADJUSTABLE FOR HEIGHT, SO THAT BARS COULD BE FED OUT AT ANY SPECIFIED HEIGHT LIKELY TO BE WANTED IN IOWA CONTINUOUS TYPE PAVING. THIS UNIT IS DESCRIBED IN DETAIL.
